Real Estate Gurus… Buyer Beware.

posted in Real Estate Investing |

So called real estate investment “gurus” offer lots of incredible knowledge at a cost of only $5000…  no wait $4000..just a second… $3000, but for tonight only $2000.  But wait there’s more, they’ll throw in two months of coaching (when there is time), a free CD packed full of “valuable information”, a free website, discounted street signs, and a group of other new investors to bounce all of your questions off of.   This is all valued at $10,000 but for tonight only they’re going to give it all to you for $1000.  But wait there’s more…

Anyone that has tried real estate investing is sure to have come across this type of “Guru” once or twice.  If you are ever up late at night, you’re sure to have seen the infomercials.  I’m not implying that they are all gimmicks, but it’s difficult to distinguish the difference between them.  Why would they spend all of this time traveling around the country “teaching” the world how to make money in real estate when they could be spending this time working deals?  Could it be because they are making more money selling the business than they are in the business?  Many of these so called strategies, don’t work, are illegal in some states, or are completely false.  There are however, some guru’s that are worth every penny.  I am not in the business to promoting other investor’s classes, so I suggest that you do your own homework.  Go to the seminars and events but resist the temptation at the end until you have done your research.  On the web, you can find information on just about any guru that has been in the business for a while.

So who do you think is a real guru?  Who is worth every penny?  Who do you think is in it to take your money?  Has anyone bought or taken a course and come away making a good living investing in real estate?

I spend a LOT of money each year on my education. But sadly many gurus just don’t perform. Price is NO indication of the quality of information you will get.

One of my tests is did they give you any actual information in the “Pitch” or just show a lot checks and deals they have done.

    Good post,
